Weather phenomena is the main factor determining the success
of solar energy applications, as temperature, radiation intensity, wind speed
and relative humidity play major role in determining the energy gain and
efficiency of solar heaters, solar collectors, and solar cells. This made it
imperative to acquire weather data in the place where solar applications are
planned.
Due to the importance of these data, a weather station was
built in agriculture Engineering Dept., Alexandria University. And a monthly
e-bulletin containing weather data is published as part of the activities of
Alexandria renewable energy academy and center (AREAC) project that is funded by
the HEEPF as part of the project Number A-095-H0.
This e-bulletin will be updated monthly.
The meteorological data recorded are:
-
Daily average temperature (Celsius)
-
Daily average total radiation intensity (W/m2)
-
Daily average diffuse radiation intensity (W/m2)
-
Daily average wind speed (m/s)
-
Daily average wind direction (degree)
